Nitura makes history as Adamson’s first-ever MVP

Shaina Nitura etched her name in UAAP history, becoming the first-ever Most Valuable Player from Adamson University in the Collegiate Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

The 21-year-old outside spiker was officially crowned Season 88 MVP during the awarding ceremony on Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, prior to Game 2 of the Finals between De La Salle University and National University.

After winning Rookie of the Year in Season 87, Nitura elevated her game to new heights this season. She topped the MVP race with a league-high **98.511 statistical points (SP)**, finishing 16 points ahead of teammate Frances Mordi. Her all-around brilliance helped lead the Lady Falcons to their first Final Four appearance since Season 85.

Nitura tallied **284 points** (248 attacks, 24 blocks, 12 aces), ranked third in spiking efficiency (38.15%), and placed among the top 10 in both receptions and digs. She was also named the Hyundai Exceptional Player and Sunsilk Player of the Season.

“Grateful ako na binigay ni God ito sa akin,” Nitura said. “But this doesn’t stop here. Our focus is still to reach the Finals and keep pushing as a team.”

Nitura also earned her first **Best Outside Spiker** award. Other major honorees include:

- **Best Outside Spiker:** Angel Canino (La Salle)

- **Best Opposite Spiker:** Shevana Laput (La Salle)

- **Best Middle Blockers:** Amie Provido (La Salle) and Niña Ytang (UP)

- **Best Setter:** Fhei Sagaysay (Adamson)

- **Best Libero:** Shaira Jardio (NU)

- **Rookie of the Year:** Sam Cantada (NU)

The University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses also received their bronze medals during the ceremony.
