Shevana Laput’s incredible transformation from a track and field athlete with no volleyball background into one of the UAAP brightest stars reached its peak as she powered De La Salle University to a perfect Season 88 championship.

The 6-foot-2 opposite spiker was named **Finals MVP** after helping the Lady Spikers complete a historic 16-0 season with a straight-sets sweep of National University in the UAAP Collegiate Women’s Volleyball Finals.

Laput set the tone in Game 1 with 11 points in a 25-23, 25-18, 25-18 victory. She then delivered a dominant performance in the title-clinching Game 2, exploding for a game-high **20 points** (14 attacks, 6 blocks) and 8 digs as La Salle cruised to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 win in front of over 22,000 fans at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“Based on the last game, we knew NU was going to come in more motivated. So we had to be even more motivated,” Laput said. “We really, really wanted this championship.”

In her first season as team captain, the Fil-Australian senior embraced a bigger leadership role, becoming the emotional and statistical anchor for La Salle’s record-breaking campaign.

“Not very much of a personal chip, but more of I want to be the best version of myself for these girls,” Laput shared. “That’s my goal the entire season — to help and guide them in any way I can.”

Her remarkable rise now includes a UAAP title and Finals MVP honor, capping a story of rapid growth and dedication.
