Clark makes return as FiberXers seek to snap skid vs Dyip

ANTIPOLO — Cameron Clark will make his Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) return when Converge tries to end its four-game losing streak against a confident Terrafirma side in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Tuesday at the Ynares Center.

The teams will open the doubleheader at 5:15 p.m., with the spotlight on the FiberXers as they turn to another import in hopes of reversing their fortunes after a promising 3-0 start.

Clark is Converge’s third reinforcement of the conference after the team moved on from Jalen Hudson and Jamaal Franklin.

The veteran wing last played in the PBA with Hong Kong Eastern, which competed as the league’s most recent guest team.

Clark will face a Terrafirma squad fresh from its biggest victory of the conference, a 114-109 upset of previously unbeaten NLEX last Friday.

The Dyip became the first team to defeat the Road Warriors after their six-game winning start, improving to 3-4 and moving into a tie with Converge for fourth place in Group A.

Terrafirma can move ahead of the FiberXers with another victory, although the Dyip will have to overcome a narrow 105-103 loss to Converge in their first-round meeting on July 15.

Terrafirma erased a 16-point deficit in that game but failed to convert on its final possession.

The game was originally scheduled for the Ninoy Aquino Stadium but was moved to Antipolo after the PBA deemed the Manila venue unplayable following a roof leak that interrupted the Magnolia-Meralco game last Friday.

The main game at 7:30 p.m. pits sister teams and MVP Group rivals NLEX and TNT in a rematch of last week's encounter.

NLEX defeated TNT, 88-83, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium last Tuesday to extend its winning streak to six games at the time.

TNT enters the rematch in better form after routing Titan Ultra, 114-80, last Saturday. The victory improved the defending champions to 4-3 and kept them in third place in Group A.

NLEX remains atop the group with a 6-1 record and will look to bounce back after suffering its first loss of the conference against Terrafirma.
