Warriors Crush Masskara, Move into Share of MPBL Lead
The Gensan Warriors dominated the Bacolod Masskara, 108-77, on Tuesday at the Pasay Astrodome to seize a share of the top spot in the 2026 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) season standings.
Every single Warrior who took the court contributed to the scoreboard, as Gensan quickly built a massive lead that reached 106-72 on their way to their fourth win in the round-robin phase of the two-division, 28-team tournament. This victory lifted them to a tie for first place with the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo.
Mark Cruz led the well-balanced offensive effort with 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Kyle Tolentino followed with 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Christopher Masaglang added 12 points and five rebounds. Anton Eusebio also chipped in 10 points and three rebounds.
The Warriors dominated the boards, out-rebounding Bacolod 55-40, with Marwin Dionisio pulling down nine boards and Larry Rodriguez, Ryan Jay Arenal, and CJ Gonzales each grabbing six. Gensan also capitalized on second-chance points, dominating 24-4 in that category.
Bacolod fell to 1-3 despite a solid performance from Hance Lleva, who posted 20 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Emman Galman added 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Dandelio Enrile contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
In the second game of the day, the Pasay Voyagers overcame a late surge from the Bataan Risers to secure a 93-78 victory.
Christian Fajarito's key three-pointer with 1:16 remaining helped seal the win, pushing Pasay ahead 87-74 and securing their second victory of the season (2-2).
Cyril Gonzales led the Voyagers with 24 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Lennard Santiago added 16 points, Steve Nash Enriquez contributed 14 points and four assists, and Fajarito finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Bataan, now 3-1, was led by Robbi Darang’s 17 points and five rebounds, Hubert Cani’s 12 points and four rebounds, and Edrian Ramirez’s 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Pasay’s exceptional shooting from long-range played a major role in the win, as the Voyagers hit 11 of 22 three-pointers (50%), while Bataan struggled with just 8 of 25 (32%).
Next up, the tournament moves to the Baliwag Star Arena on Wednesday, with Manila facing Iloilo at 4 p.m., Sarangani taking on Ilagan Isabela at 6 p.m., and Imus battling host Bulacan at 8 p.m.
