Biñan-Tatak Gel aims to preserve its unbeaten record against Pasig, while defending champion Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire prepares for a challenging road test against RK Hoops-Quezon City 10ACT in a double-header on Sunday in the 2026 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL).

The action kicks off at 4 p.m. with the Angels facing off against the Queenpins, followed by the Valkyries taking on RK Hoops-Quezon City 10ACT at 6 p.m. at the MRB Gymnasium, marking two crucial early-season matchups.

Both Biñan-Tatak Gel and Pasig come into the game fresh off dramatic victories, setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash based on early momentum.

The Angels managed to secure an 83-79 overtime win against Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire, with Luisa San Juan hitting a key three-pointer and then sinking two free throws to seal the win, lifting them to a 2-0 record in the Aktive-supported tournament.

Biñan-Tatak Gel will once again rely on San Juan, Monique Del Carmen, and Chack Cabinbin to lead their charge against Pasig, who is also aiming to build on their own strong victory.

“We’re preparing the same way we have for every team, because right now, we don’t know too much about them. But we’re grateful for the win over the defending champions; that gives us momentum,” said Angels head coach Jack Azcueta.

Pasig, with a 1-1 record, will be led by Nic Cancio, who hit the game-winner in their 68-67 escape over RK Hoops-Quezon City 10ACT, alongside Lee Sario and Charm Natural, as they look to claim a second straight win.

Meanwhile, both the Valkyries (1-1) and RK Hoops-Quezon City (1-2) are eager to bounce back from recent losses and get their campaigns back on track.

RK Hoops-Quezon City faces a tough challenge, as they will once again be without Tantoy Ferrer, who is in Sanya, China representing Gilas Pilipinas in the Asian Beach Games 3x3 event. However, Ann Dampios, Stif Larrosa, and Faith Panti will lead the squad in Ferrer’s absence.

Defending champions Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire will continue to rely on reigning MVP Afril Bernardino, Snow Penaranda, and Khate Castillo as they look to regroup and steady their campaign.
