Biñan-Tatak Gel wasted no time asserting its dominance, securing a decisive 91-73 win over Pasig to take sole possession of first place in the 2026 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) on Sunday at the MRB Gymnasium.

The Angels came out strong from the opening tip, jumping to a commanding 25-8 lead in the first quarter that left Pasig on its heels. From there, Biñan kept the pressure on, utilizing a deep rotation and consistent offense to stay unbeaten at 3-0.

Eka Soriano led the charge with a well-rounded performance, posting 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Chack Cabinbin also had a stellar game, contributing 18 points, nine assists, and four steals to help guide the team’s offense.

Biñan’s depth proved crucial as six players scored in double figures. Luisa San Juan added 13 points and seven rebounds, Monique Del Carmen filled the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block, while Chicky Faraon and Claudine Santos each chipped in 10 points.

The Angels broke the game wide open late in the third quarter, extending their lead to as much as 27 points, 76-49, after Danica Pacia split a pair of free throws with under a minute remaining in the period.

Head coach Jack Azcueta acknowledged the team’s short preparation time but praised their focused performance when it mattered most.

Pasig, meanwhile, struggled to keep up despite strong performances from LJ Miranda and Lee Sario. Miranda finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Sario also added 17 points. Nikka Villanueva chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds, and Charm Natural contributed 11 points and five boards in the losing effort, as the Queenpins dropped to 1-2.
