Elasto Painters Face Adversity in Key Showdown with Road Warriors
Rain or Shine’s response to the recent loss of two key players will be in the spotlight as the league-leading Elasto Painters take on NLEX in a high-stakes matchup in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup this Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The 7:30 p.m. clash features the top two teams of the ongoing midseason conference, but much of the focus will be on Rain or Shine, who must now push forward without two important contributors.
Currently holding an impressive 8-1 record, the Elasto Painters will be without playmaker Felix Lemetti and rookie Jun Roque for an extended period, both having suffered anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Roque's injury occurred in their 91-82 win over Magnolia last Sunday, as confirmed by the team through social media. Lemetti’s injury came during their 124-117 win over Terrafirma on April 15, cutting short what had been a promising season for him.
This marks a major setback for a Rain or Shine squad that has been one of the most dominant teams in the conference, winning seven straight to start the tournament and positioning itself to secure a Top Four finish.
However, the challenge only intensifies with NLEX, which is aiming for the same goal. The Road Warriors are tied for second place with Barangay Ginebra at 7-2, and a win would give them sole possession of the No. 2 spot.
NLEX enters the game on a high after a 95-85 victory over Terrafirma, with Robert Bolick once again stepping up in the clutch, hitting a crucial shot late to seal their spot in the quarterfinals.
Despite Rain or Shine’s injury woes, the Elasto Painters are still favored by the sportsbook. Coach Yeng Guiao’s squad is expected to win by 6.5 points, with the over/under set at 214.5 total points.

The double-header kicks off at 5:15 p.m. with Magnolia facing Titan Ultra, as the Hotshots look to stay in contention for the "Magic Eight" playoff spots.
Currently at No. 8 with a 4-5 record, Magnolia can move into seventh place with a win, pushing past San Miguel, who holds a 5-5 record after edging Meralco, 103-92, on Tuesday night.
The sportsbook heavily favors Magnolia in this matchup, with the Hotshots listed as -14.0 favorites against the struggling Giant Risers, who are on a four-game losing streak and near the bottom of the standings. The over/under for the game is set at 203.0 total points.
