The Quezon City Black Bulls kept their momentum rolling with a 93-83 triumph over the Bacolod Masskaras on Monday at the Pasay Astrodome in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL)

Fueled by standout performances from Ryan Costelo and Kobe Monje, the Black Bulls built a commanding 79-68 lead before the Masskaras narrowed the gap to 74-79 with 3:38 left in the game. Bacolod’s rally ultimately fell short as Costelo, Monje, and CJ Agoncillo combined efforts to close out the match, securing Quezon City’s third consecutive win after an initial 0-2 start in the round-robin elimination of the 28-team, two-division tournament.

MJ Joson, a standout from Manila Central University, earned Best Player honors after an all-around effort, tallying 6 points, 14 rebounds, 14 assists, and 3 steals for Quezon City.

Monje contributed 18 points and 5 rebounds, while Costelo added 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Aeron Baguno chipped in 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists, with Rey Publico also posting 10 points and 3 rebounds. Agoncillo shone in the clutch, scoring 9 points—including four in the final two minutes—along with 5 rebounds.

The Masskaras suffered their fourth consecutive defeat after an opening-day win, despite strong showings from Emman Galman (23 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists), John Kobe Dalisay (19 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds), and Marjun Wahing (19 points, 2 assists).

Quezon City dominated the boards, 51-38, translating their advantage into points in the paint (46-30) and fastbreak points (22-11).

The MPBL action continues at Paco Arena on Tuesday, with Sarangani facing Bulacan at 4 p.m., Zamboanga taking on Ilagan Isabela at 6 p.m., and host Manila clashing with Valenzuela at 8 p.m.
