Enriquez’s Clutch Three-Point Play Propels Voyagers Past Black Bulls
Steve Nash Enriquez came up big in the final moments, completing a crucial three-point play with 22.1 seconds left to lift the Pasay Voyagers to a narrow 76-75 victory over the Quezon City Black Bulls on Saturday at the Orion Sports Complex in Bataan. The win helped Pasay get back on track in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season.
Enriquez’s decisive drive and free throw made the difference after Quezon City failed to convert two late opportunities. The Black Bulls also forced an inbound turnover but lost a chance to reclaim the lead due to an inbound violation with 4.5 seconds remaining.
Pasay erased an 11-point deficit after trailing 28-17 in the second quarter, rebounding from its previous loss to improve to 7-3 in the round-robin elimination of the 28-team tournament.
Nico Quinal led the Voyagers with 14 points, along with two assists and two steals. King Gurtiza added 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while Lennard Santiago contributed 13 points and four rebounds. Chris Fajarito chipped in 12 points, including back-to-back three-pointers that helped Pasay extend a 71-62 lead in the fourth quarter.
For Quezon City, Christian Agoncillo tallied 14 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Kobe Monje added 13 points and four rebounds, Aeron Bagunu contributed 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists, while MJ Joson and Clark Derige chipped in 10 points each. Joson also collected five rebounds and three assists. The Black Bulls fell to 6-4.
Pasay’s perimeter shooting proved key, hitting 10 of 23 three-point attempts (43.5%), with Quinal going a perfect 3-of-3 from deep. Quezon City struggled from long range, making just four of 21 shots (19%).
MPBL action resumes on Monday at One Arena Cainta, with Quezon Province facing Sarangani at 4 p.m., Marikina taking on Meycauayan-Marilao at 6 p.m., and Negros battling Bacolod at 8 p.m.
