Basilan outlasted Pasay, 82-76, in a thrilling overtime clash on Wednesday at the Pasay Astrodome in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

Veteran John Wilson stepped up in the final moments, hitting a crucial three-pointer and sinking two free throws to lead an 8-2 run in the last 1:49 of extra time, securing a 2-1 record for the Steel.

The 2021 MVP finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds to power Basilan, while Miles Canal added 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Bobby Balucanag contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists in the win.

The game was tightly contested, with the teams tied at 70 at the end of regulation. Pasay had a chance to win, but Steve Nash Enriquez opted for a three-pointer rather than attacking the basket, despite Basilan being in the penalty. The shot missed, and the game went to overtime.

Pasay dropped to 1-2 despite a strong performance from Christian Fajarito, who recorded 20 points and five rebounds. Cyril Gonzales added 14 points, and Brian Hilario chipped in 13 in the losing effort.
