Nicole Cancio came through in the final moments as Pasig edged past 10ACT RK Hoops–Quezon City, 68-67, for a crucial bounce-back win in the 2026 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena.

With Pasig trailing 66-67, Cancio secured the game-winning basket off a last-second pass from LJ Miranda, scoring inside the paint with just 1.4 seconds remaining. The clutch play lifted the Queenpin to a 1-1 record for the tournament.

"I told them, I trust them from start to finish. Yes, they’ll make mistakes, but I trust them. And as you saw in that final sequence, it wasn’t about me—it was the team playing together," said Pasig head coach Kyle Umengan.

Lee Sario led Pasig in scoring with 18 points and 10 rebounds, although she struggled with her shooting, hitting just 5-of-24 attempts. Charm Natural made a strong contribution off the bench with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Miranda and Princes Ganade added eight and seven points, respectively, while Cancio finished with six points and seven rebounds in the win.

RK Hoops–Quezon City nearly stole the game when Stif Larrosa scored a breakaway layup off a Mikee Antonio steal with nine seconds left, briefly giving Quezon City a 67-66 lead before Cancio's game-winner.

The Quezon City-based squad had one final chance, but they were unable to get off a shot in the last second, suffering a heartbreaking loss to fall to 1-2 in the tournament sponsored by Aktive.

Ann Dampios led RK Hoops–Quezon City 10ACT, finishing with 14 points and six rebounds, while Larrosa posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Faith Panti also added 11 points in the loss.
