Team USA Sweeps Czechia in Straight Sets for Fourth Straight Win
Team USA continued its dominant run with a straight-sets victory over Czechia, 25–17, 25–12, 25–16, on Thursday in Week 2 of the 2026 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League at the Philsports Arena.
The No. 7-ranked Americans took control after a brief 9–9 tie in the second set, unleashing a decisive 9–0 run highlighted by a service ace from Jordyn Poulter. From there, they never looked back, cruising to their fourth consecutive win in just one hour and seven minutes.
Avery Skinner, returning after sitting out the previous match, provided an early spark and finished with six points. She noted the team’s focus on maintaining energy against a disciplined Czech side.
Jordan Thompson led the attack with a match-high 15 points, while Logan Eggleston added 10. Chiaka Ogbogu anchored the defense with six blocks.
Czechia struggled to keep pace, with no player reaching double figures. Magdalena Jehlarova, Ela Koulisiani, and Monika Brancuska each scored seven points.
The win improved Team USA’s record to 5–1. They will face defending champion Italy on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Czechia fell to 3–3 and will look to rebound against unbeaten Japan on Friday.
