Gilas Girls Cruise Past Singapore for Back-to-Back Wins in SEABA Qualifiers

Gilas Pilipinas Girls maintained their unbeaten run in the 2026 FIBA U18 Asia Cup–SEABA Qualifiers after dominating Singapore, 83-53, on Wednesday night at the STI West Negros University Gym in Bacolod.

The convincing victory followed the Philippines’ 93-42 rout of Vietnam in its tournament opener, allowing the host nation to take sole possession of first place in the five-team competition.

Singapore put up a fight early and even grabbed an 18-17 lead in the opening quarter, but the Filipinas quickly seized control. Behind the playmaking of Sophia Dignadice and the scoring punch of Zaydhen Rosano, Gilas erupted for a 26-10 run in the second period to build a commanding 42-27 halftime advantage.

The Philippines continued to dictate the pace after the break, stretching the margin to as much as 32 points and cruising to another dominant victory under head coach Sandy Arespacochaga.

Gilas once again showcased its depth, with every player who entered the game contributing points.

Tiffany Reyes led the charge with 18 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting, while also collecting seven rebounds and four steals.

Dignadice turned in an all-around performance with 16 points, two three-pointers, seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals without committing a turnover.

Rosano added nine points, while Rhiane Perez finished with seven. Brianna Katigbak and Lea Pinuela chipped in six points each.

Singapore dropped to 0-2, with Hui Jun Ayeni emerging as its only double-digit scorer.

In the earlier game, Vietnam rebounded from its opening-day loss by defeating Thailand, 55-48, to improve to 1-1.

Lucienne Le Chi scored 14 points to lead Vietnam, while Hoang Binh Vo contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Thailand was paced by Kanokpone Trakulvera, who tallied 17 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

The tournament resumes with Indonesia facing Vietnam, while Gilas Pilipinas Girls aim for a third consecutive victory when they take on Thailand later in the competition.
