During an appearance on the Kings League show, Yamal responded to his omission from the Brazil squad:

“I have a few things to say because I can’t just ignore this. Obviously, I’m upset and sad about not being called up. But we will keep focusing on training and matches day by day, step by step. Shortly afterwards, Yamal posted a photo of himself playing CS, leading many fans to question whether he was truly disappointed.

Yamal last played for Brazil on October 19, 2023, in a match against Uruguay . He has not been selected since, having suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury. Over the past two and a half years, he has missed a total of 645 days due to injury.
