Basilan Steel used their dominance on the glass to pull away from Imus Yangkee, posting a 98-88 victory on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. The win evened Basilan’s record in the 2026 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season.

Led by veteran big man Jervy Cruz, the Steel owned the rebounding battle 63-42 and converted that edge into better scoring efficiency. Basilan made 36 field goals compared to Imus’ 32 and held a slight 12-10 advantage from beyond the arc, improving to 7-7 in the elimination round.

John Wilson led all scorers with 24 points, including four three-pointers, while adding eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Ralph Robin and Joshua Marcos each contributed 14 points, while Kenneth Mocon nearly had a triple-double with eight points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Cruz anchored the paint with five points and 12 rebounds.

Imus suffered its 10th straight loss and fell to 2-12 in its playoff push.

Joseph Mark Marquez led the Yangkee with 18 points and nine rebounds. Janjan Salazar added 16 points, six assists, and three rebounds, Jordan Rios posted 15 points and eight rebounds, and Noel Santos chipped in 10 points.
