Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire and Akari-Rizal will clash one final time on Wednesday at the Parañaque Coliseum, with the 2026 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) championship on the line in a winner-take-all Game 3.

The defending champion Valkyries forced the decider after bouncing back from a heartbreaking Game 1 defeat with a commanding 83-60 victory last Sunday, powered by another dominant outing from newly crowned three-time MVP Afril Bernardino.

Akari-Rizal, meanwhile, gets one more opportunity to complete a breakthrough campaign by capturing the franchise's first WMPBL title.

After missing its initial chance to close out the series, the Sparks will look to regain the balanced form that propelled them to the top of the elimination-round standings.

The championship showdown is expected to feature another intense battle, with Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire hoping to carry the momentum from its convincing Game 2 triumph, while Akari-Rizal aims to show that its Game 1 victory better reflects the level it displayed throughout the season.

Bernardino is once again expected to spearhead the Valkyries after producing a spectacular double-double of 24 points and 21 rebounds in Game 2, while also contributing three assists, three steals, and three blocks to keep the title defense alive.

Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire will also look for strong performances from Snow Peñaranda, Pringle Fabruada, Khate Castillo, and Camille Claro as it pursues a second straight championship in the Aktive-backed league.

"Sense of urgency—that we want this more than Akari," said Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire head coach Cholo Villanueva when asked what he expects from his team in the deciding game.

"They are the hunters in this series, and we are the hunted. Pero we are going to be in desperate mode to protect the championship and win another title for New Zealand Bluefire," he added.

Akari-Rizal, for its part, will once again lean on Mar Prado, Janine Pontejos, Raiza Palmera-Dy, and Allana Lim as it seeks to secure the first championship in franchise history.

With the series deadlocked at one game apiece, the stage is set for a high-stakes finale as the defending champions' experience meets the Sparks' drive to claim their long-awaited breakthrough title.
