Titan Ultra eyes winning streak, TNT seeks bounce-back win
Titan Ultra will try to string together back-to-back victories for the first time in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Governors' Cup when it faces winless Macau on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m., with the Giant Risers looking to build on their stunning 103-87 victory over defending champion TNT last Wednesday at the same venue.
The breakthrough win snapped Titan Ultra's 0-3 start, which included consecutive losses by more than 30 points to Converge and NLEX.
The franchise last won consecutive games during the Season 50 Philippine Cup, defeating Terrafirma, 111-108, and Phoenix, 127-119, late in the elimination round. Despite that surge, the Giant Risers missed the playoffs with a 4-7 record.
Head coach Rensy Bajar and his squad now have another opportunity to put together a winning streak against a Macau team still searching for its first victory.
The Giant Pandas enter the contest at 0-4, the lone winless team in the tournament, although they nearly pulled off an upset in their previous outing before falling to TNT, 106-103.
According to Tiger Score sportsbook, Macau enters the game as the favorite, while Titan Ultra heads into the matchup as the underdog.
In the 7:30 p.m. main game, TNT looks to rebound from its loss to Titan Ultra when it takes on Terrafirma.
The Tropang 5G will face a Dyip side riding a three-game losing streak, but one that has remained competitive despite the defeats.
Terrafirma has lost its last three games by an average margin of just 2.6 points, including a narrow loss to San Miguel in which former Beerman Juami Tiongson gave his team a late 104-101 lead before George King powered San Miguel to the comeback victory.
TNT will also be mindful of Terrafirma's recent success against the franchise, with the Dyip having pulled off several victories over the Tropang 5G over the past two seasons.
According to Tiger Score sportsbook, TNT is a 5.0-point favorite, while the over/under is set at 213.5 points.
