Tantoy Ferrer Nearly Posts Triple-Double as RK Hoops Defeat Caloocan

Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) RK Hoops-Quezon City defeated Caloocan, 86-66, on Wednesday at Hoops Haven in Pasay, powered by a near triple-double from Tantoy Ferrer.

Ferrer delivered a well-rounded performance with 24 points, 15 rebounds, nine assists, and six steals, helping the Quezon City squad snap its two-game losing streak. The win improved RK Hoops to 3-6 and moved them into sole possession of fourth place in the standings.

“We still need to improve our defense. We won today, but we have to get better if we want to reach the Final Four,” said head coach Jon Cobarrubias.

RK Hoops took control early, building a 20-point halftime lead behind strong contributions from Ferrer, Caryl Molina, and Natasha Alcantara. They maintained their intensity in the second half to complete a sweep of the season series against Caloocan.

Molina was highly efficient, finishing with 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting, along with nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Hazel Panti added 12 points, six rebounds, and six steals, while Alcantara contributed 10 points.

Caloocan struggled throughout the game and fell to 1-8 after suffering their fourth straight loss. Tin Capilit led the Lady Kankaloo with 21 points off the bench, while Sofia Felisarta added 12 points and nine rebounds.

RK Hoops will look to build momentum when they face Biñan-Tatak Gel on Sunday, while Caloocan will conclude its elimination round campaign against Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire on the same day.
