San Juan Knights Explode from Deep in 114-79 Rout of Pasig
San Juan continued its dominant run with a resounding 114-79 victory over Pasig on Thursday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season at the Batangas City Coliseum.
The Knights caught fire from beyond the arc, draining 18 of 29 three-pointers (62.1%) while controlling the game from start to finish. They built a commanding 81-45 lead on their way to an eighth straight win, improving their record to 10-1.
Pasig, in contrast, struggled badly from long range, converting just 2 of 16 attempts (12.5%) and dropping to 7-4.
Orlan Wamar and Reyland Torres were perfect from deep, going 3-of-3 each, while Royce Alforque added a 2-of-2 performance. Terrence Fortea led San Juan with 14 points, including four triples, and earned Best Player of the Game honors. Michael Calisaan also finished with 14 points.
Alforque contributed 13 points and six assists, while Torres added 11 points. Coach Alex Angeles was able to freely rotate his lineup as the outcome became clear early.
Mike Phillips, recently named to the Gilas Pilipinas roster for Window 3 of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers, saw limited action and finished with three points and seven rebounds.
San Juan led 56-37 at halftime after a strong shooting start. The MPBL returns to action on Saturday at the Pola Gym in Oriental Mindoro, with Binan facing Meycauayan at 4 p.m., Gensan taking on Zamboanga at 6 p.m., and Mindoro battling Valenzuela at 8 p.m.
