The Quezon Huskers cruised to a commanding 93-67 victory over the Marikina Shoemasters on Thursday, stretching their winning streak to nine games in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season at the Batangas City Coliseum.

Fueled by strong interior play and sharp outside shooting, the Huskers pulled away decisively in the third quarter, building a commanding 75-39 lead en route to their ninth straight win in the ongoing round-robin elimination phase of the 28-team tournament.

In the day’s other games, San Juan cruised past Pasig 114-79, while Batangas City dismantled Sarangani 111-64. These results kept pace with the unbeaten Quezon Huskers, who remain the only undefeated team as the elimination round approaches the halfway mark.

Quezon dominated the glass with a 54-39 rebounding edge, led by Michael Canete, Cedric Manzano, and Cyrus Tabi, who each hauled in seven boards. The Huskers converted that advantage into a massive 58-26 lead in points in the paint.

Canete was named Best Player of the Game after posting 15 points, five steals, and three assists. Manzano contributed 13 points, two assists, and two steals, while Jolo Manansala added 11 points and three rebounds for the back-to-back South Division champions.

The Shoemasters, who fell to 5-9, were led by Jeepy Faundo with 14 points and three rebounds. Jason Strait and RR Casajeros each scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, the Batangas City Tanduay Athletics also stayed hot, improving to 11-2 after cruising to their ninth straight victory. They raced to a 62-31 halftime lead and never looked back, eventually winning by a massive margin.
