PBA All-Star: Marcio Lassiter to keep vying for elusive 3-Point Shootout crown
Marcio Lassiter, the PBA's all-time leader in three-pointers made, has once again fallen short of winning the PBAAll-Star Three-Point Shootout title, marking his ninth unsuccessful attempt. The event took place on Friday night, March 6, at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur.
Despite strong hometown support and expectations of a potential victory, Lassiter was defeated in the final round by Jerrick Ahanmisi. Ahanmisi scored 30 points, outperforming Lassiter's 25 points, while rookie Juan Gomez de Liaño finished with 18 points.
Lassiter expressed disappointment, saying "Sayang " (a Filipino term for "what a pity"), but was gracious in defeat. He credited Ahanmisi's performance, stating, "Give credit to Jerrick, he shot the ball just as well as I did. But he made a few more than me. Proud of him."
Despite the loss, Lassiter emphasized the importance of entertaining the fans, especially in his hometown. He said, "It hurts but at the end of the day you try to put your best foot out there, and I think I did... I did put a show for the crowd, my hometown."
