Nxled seeks second straight win against Galeries Tower in PVL On Tour

Nxled looks to build on its recent breakthrough performance when it faces Galeries Tower on Saturday (Aug. 1) in the PVL On Tour at Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The Chameleons enter the match with renewed confidence after sweeping the undermanned Capital1 Solar Spikers, 25-17, 25-23, 25-18, in Vigan. The victory helped Nxled recover from a four-set defeat to the Creamline Cool Smashers in the opening game of its preseason campaign in Ilagan City last July 8.

Nxled is favored according to Tiger Score sportsbook, carrying 1.52 moneyline odds against Galeries Tower’s 2.37.

The Chameleons will look to continue the strong form that impressed head coach Ettore Guidetti, who praised his team’s defensive effort and competitiveness.

"I honestly think we really enjoyed playing," said Guidetti. "Despite a few interruptions because of the format, we reacted very well every time. I was happy that everybody got the chance to play because all of my players are capable. What pleased me the most was our defense. It was outstanding, and I think the crowd also appreciated how hard we fought for every ball."

Despite the preseason nature of the On Tour, Guidetti stressed that Nxled is approaching every match with a winning mentality.

"We don't feel it's an exhibition," said the Italian coach. "The players put pressure on themselves, and we're trying to win every single game. That's the truth. For us, the exhibition is about playing at our highest level."

Guidetti has emphasized depth and chemistry as key priorities, regularly rotating his lineup to prepare the team for the long PVL season.

"We never have the same starting six twice in a week," he said. "It helps us create quality scrimmages and develop chemistry among everyone. During a long conference, anything can happen."

Nxled will rely on that depth against a Galeries Tower squad that also opened its campaign with an impressive victory.

The Highrisers stunned preseason favorite Farm Fresh in four sets in Batangas behind strong performances from Erika Deloria, Jean Asis, Aiza Pontillas, Erika Raagas, Roselle Baliton, Lycha Ebon, and Jade Gentapa.

Galeries Tower is also boosted by the emergence of rookie setter Lams Lamina, who delivered seven excellent sets in her professional debut, while veteran playmaker Jules Coronel continues to anchor the offense.

The match is scheduled for 4 p.m., followed by the featured encounter between Akari and Choco Mucho at 6:30 p.m.

Akari will look to bounce back after losing its opening match against unbeaten ZUS Coffee, while Choco Mucho aims to end a two-game skid despite missing several key players due to injuries and national team commitments.
