The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) has officially revoked the franchise of the Iloilo United Royals and imposed a lifetime ban on its management and officers after they failed to fulfill their commitments in the ongoing 2026 season.

The team forfeited its June 17 matchup against Negros at One Arena in Cainta and also gave no clear confirmation regarding its scheduled June 24 game against Pasig, which led the league to hand down strict disciplinary action.

With the franchise cancellation, all matches involving Iloilo in the 2026 season will be nullified and removed from official results.

In its official statement, the MPBL said the franchise owners and management had effectively abandoned their duties, violating league rules and their franchise agreement.

Aside from the permanent ban, team officials will also face further penalties, including indefinite suspension of league privileges and enforcement of any remaining financial or administrative obligations.

The league added that, based on findings from its integrity partner Sportsradar and the recommendation of its Technical Committee, it may launch a coordinated investigation with the Games and Amusements Board into possible irregularities involving owners, staff, coaches, and players. The probe could include allegations of match manipulation and unresolved financial issues.

Including the forfeited game, Iloilo ended its run with a 2–11 record before being removed from competition.

MPBL Commissioner Emmer Oreta stressed that the league remains firm in protecting its integrity, ensuring fair competition, and safeguarding the interests of teams, players, fans, and stakeholders.
