Malonzo returns to B.League, signs with Earthfriends Tokyo Z
Jamie Malonzo is set for another opportunity in Japan after signing with newly promoted Earthfriends Tokyo Z for the 2026-27 B.League season.
The move marks the Filipino forward's return to Japan's top professional league, where he hopes to make a stronger impact after a brief stint with the Kyoto Hannaryz last season.
Malonzo appeared in just four games for Kyoto before parting ways with the club, but he now gets a fresh start with Earthfriends Tokyo Z, which recently earned promotion to the B.League.
The 6-foot-7 wing welcomed the opportunity, describing the move as the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his career.
"I'm incredibly blessed and grateful to begin this new chapter of my journey with Earthfriends Tokyo Z. It’s an honor to join a club with such passionate fans and a strong vision for the future," Malonzo said.
“I’m excited to get to Tokyo, meet my teammates, coaches, and everyone who supports this organization. I can't wait to compete at the highest level, give everything I have every single day, and do my part to help bring success to the team. See you all soon—let's make this a special season together!”
Malonzo initially joined Kyoto in 2025 after leaving Barangay Ginebra but struggled to carve out a regular role, averaging 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in limited action.
He regained momentum later that year by helping Gilas Pilipinas capture the gold medal at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, sharing the national team roster with Thirdy Ravena, who is also returning to the B.League after signing with Toyama for the upcoming season.
Now with Earthfriends Tokyo Z, Malonzo aims to revive his overseas career and help the newly promoted club establish itself in Japan's premier basketball league.
