Kyle Paranada Scores 29 as Cowboys Edge Kuyas for Third Straight Win
The Ilagan Isabela Cowboys secured their third consecutive victory after holding off the Bulacan Kuyas, 82-78, on Tuesday at the Pasay Astrodome.
Kyle Paranada delivered a game-high 29 points to lead the Cowboys to an 8-5 record. The former UST standout shot efficiently, converting all four of his three-point attempts and going 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. He sealed the win by sinking two crucial free throws in the closing seconds.
Paranada was named Best Player of the Game, outshining Bulacan’s Jayboy Solis, who posted a double-double of 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Ilagan received solid contributions from Allen Mina (7 points, 3 assists), Alex Cabagnot (6 points, 6 assists), and homegrown forward TJ Felebrico, who grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds. Veteran Robby Celiz also played a key role with nine rebounds and a crucial basket that tied the game at 73-all in the fourth quarter.
Bulacan briefly took a 76-75 lead on a three-pointer by Jeremy Cruz, but Paranada answered with a triple of his own to ignite a decisive 7-2 run that helped the Cowboys close out the game.
Despite the loss, Bulacan dropped to 4-7 with balanced scoring from Cruz (14 points, 9 rebounds), Mart James Barrera (14 points), Benedict Benedictos (11 points), and Jonathan Medina (10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists).
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season continues on Wednesday at the One Arena Cainta, with Negros facing Iloilo at 4 p.m., Bataan taking on Caloosan at 6 p.m., and Rizal battling Quezon City at 8 p.m.
