Hollis-Jefferson returns as TNT faces San Miguel in heavyweight clash

Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson makes his Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) return tonight as TNT faces San Miguel Beer in a battle between league heavyweights in the Season 50 Governors' Cup at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m., with the Tropang 5G hoping that the return of a familiar reinforcement can provide the consistency they lacked during Darius Days' short stint with the team.

TNT enters the matchup as a +6.0 underdog, according to Tiger Score sportsbook, with the over/under set at 217.5.

Hollis-Jefferson takes over after TNT decided to part ways with Days following the team's 110-107 comeback victory over Converge last Tuesday, where Rey Nambatac delivered a game-winning three-pointer.

The older brother of former TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is already in the Philippines and is expected to immediately face a major challenge against the Beermen.

Rahlir previously suited up for TNT as an emergency replacement for Rondae during the 2024 Commissioner's Cup after his younger brother suffered an injury. He most recently played for Joensuun Kataja Basket Club in Finland's Korisliiga.

San Miguel enters the matchup looking to build another winning streak after recovering from its loss to unbeaten NLEX with a dominant 143-105 victory over Titan Ultra last Wednesday.

The Beermen improved to 4-1 in Group A and remain second behind NLEX, which owns a perfect 4-0 record.

Earlier in the day, NLEX will attempt to extend its unbeaten run when it battles Converge at 5:15 p.m.

The Road Warriors are aiming for a fifth consecutive victory but will face a FiberXers squad desperate to return to the win column after dropping two straight games.

Converge opened the conference with three consecutive victories before falling to San Miguel and TNT. The loss to TNT also marked Jamaal Franklin's first game back with the team.

The FiberXers enter the contest as a +4.0 underdog according to Tiger Score sportsbook, with the total points line set at 219.5.
