Gilas, Manila advance to Xiantao 3x3 Women’s Series quarterfinals

Gilas Pilipinas and Manila Gilas booked their places in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series-Xiantao Stop after both finished second in their respective groups on Saturday.

The two Philippine squads each posted 1-1 records in the main draw to advance to the knockout stage. Gilas will face top-seeded Ulaanbaatar Amazons at 4:30 p.m., while Manila takes on Paraguay at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

The tournament also marked the national team debut of newly naturalized Filipina Elizabeth Means.

Means' first game in a Gilas uniform ended in a 16-10 defeat to Paraguay. She tallied five points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, while Camille Clarin and Tantoy Ferrer added two points each. Paola Ferrari led Paraguay with seven points and nine rebounds.

Gilas bounced back in its second outing, defeating China's Yanjing, 19-10, to secure a spot in the last eight.

Camille Cacho spearheaded the victory with a team-high eight points after being held scoreless in the opener. Means and Ferrer added five points apiece to help seal the win.

Manila Gilas, meanwhile, opened its campaign with a hard-fought 11-9 victory over Amgalan before falling 22-5 to powerhouse Ulaanbaatar in its second group-stage match.

Ann Pingol and Tin Cayabyab scored four points each as Manila edged Amgalan for its lone group-stage victory.

Ulaanbaatar proved too much to handle in the succeeding game, with Ariuntsetseg Bat-Erdene finishing with eight points and Amari Robinson adding six as the Mongolian side handed Manila a one-sided loss.

The other quarterfinal pairings will see Thailand face Japan's Takasaki, while China squares off against New Zealand.
