Caloocan rolls past Parañaque, remains atop MPBL standings

League-leading Caloocan Batang Kankaloo flexed its depth with a convincing 127-91 victory over Parañaque on Monday in the 2026 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season at the Paco Arena in Manila.

All 15 players fielded by Caloocan found the scoring column, with Rommel Calahat leading the balanced attack as the Batang Kankaloo improved to 14-1 in the round-robin elimination phase of the 27-team tournament. Caloocan led by as many as 36 points en route to the blowout win.

Calahat finished with 16 points and four rebounds, while Kean Baclaan contributed 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Eric Camson added 13 points and five rebounds, and homegrown forward Joseph Manlangit chipped in 10 points and five boards.

The victory kept Caloocan firmly on top of the North Division standings, ahead of Abra (12-1) and San Juan (10-1).

Parañaque dropped to 1-16 despite a strong performance from Jomar Santos, who posted 24 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Marlon Monte added 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Jobert Medina scored 12 points and dished out three assists. James Mangahas contributed 11 points, four assists, and two rebounds, and John Michael Cruz finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

In the nightcap, the Cebu Greats turned back the Quezon City Black Bulls, 74-61, to move into solo third place in the South Division.

The victory improved Cebu to 12-3, allowing the Greats to leapfrog Biñan Tatak Gel (11-3) in the standings behind leaders General Santos (13-2) and Batangas (11-2).

Mark Meneses paced Cebu with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds while adding three blocks and two assists. Alvin Baetiong contributed 10 points and eight rebounds, while Kint Ariar also scored 10 points with three rebounds.

Quezon City trimmed a 12-point deficit to 68-61 after Joshua Roque sank two free throws with 3:26 remaining, but the Black Bulls failed to score the rest of the way as Cebu closed the game with six consecutive free throws to seal the win.

The Black Bulls fell to 6-8 despite 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists from Val Chauca. Jake Agoncillo added 13 points and six rebounds, while Kobe Monje finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
