Cabinbin Leads Angels to Victory Over Queenpin
Biñan-Tatak Gel held off a late rally from Pasig before pulling away for a 91-78 win in the 2026 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) at MRB Gymnasium on Wednesday, snapping a two-game losing streak.
The Angels relied on a strong finishing run, with Monique Del Carmen, Ara Abaca, and Chack Cabinbin spearheading a decisive 17-6 burst in the final minutes to turn a tight game into a comfortable victory. The win improved Biñan-Tatak Gel’s record to 5-2, keeping them in third place in the standings.
“Ang hirap. Kita naman eh, prepared ‘yung Queenpin. Kailangan namin ‘yung mga ganitong laro para maka-adjust kami at makita pa ‘yung mga kailangan gawin,” said Biñan-Tatak Gel head coach Jack Azcueta, reflecting on holding off Pasig’s late charge.
The Angels entered the fourth quarter with a nine-point cushion before widening the gap in the closing minutes.
Cabinbin delivered a standout all-around performance, posting a double-double with 20 points and 11 assists, along with seven rebounds and six steals, helping Biñan-Tatak Gel rebound from back-to-back losses to Akari-Rizal and Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire.
Eka Soriano added 16 points and five rebounds, while Del Carmen contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Bernice Paraiso also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Pasig, meanwhile, fell back into the losing column after breaking a four-game skid with a win over Caloocan, dropping to 2-6. LJ Miranda led the Queenpin with 20 points, and Lee Sario added 18 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Gabi Bade posted a double-double of 11 points and 12 assists with seven rebounds but struggled from the field, shooting just 4-of-21.
