Beermen bounce back in style, bury Giant Risers by 38

San Miguel Beer wasted no time bouncing back from its first loss of the conference, dismantling Titan Ultra, 143-105, in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Governors' Cup on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Beermen turned a competitive first half into a rout behind a blistering third-quarter explosion, improving to 4-1 in Group A while remaining alone in second place behind unbeaten NLEX (4-0).

After the teams were tied at 68 early in the third period, San Miguel unleashed a decisive 42-19 run fueled by George King, Jerrick Ahanmisi, Don Trollano, and Marcio Lassiter. The surge gave the Beermen a commanding 110-81 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

Titan Ultra never threatened again as San Miguel's offense continued to fire on all cylinders while its defense clamped down to secure the convincing victory.

"We tried to clean up the things that we had to clean up coming from the NLEX loss—sprinting back, turning the ball too much—kaya nakabawi kami," said lead assistant coach Peter Martin.

King led the Beermen with 35 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while Ahanmisi delivered his best game since joining San Miguel, scoring 26 points behind four three-pointers and one four-point shot on 50-percent shooting.

Trollano provided a huge lift off the bench with 22 points and five rebounds, while Lassiter added 13 points after knocking down three of his four attempts from beyond the arc.

According to league statistician Fidel Mangonon III, San Miguel's 49-point third quarter was its highest-scoring period since erupting for 51 points against Converge during the 2024 Philippine Cup.

With the game already out of reach, the Beermen's reserves took over in the closing minutes, allowing the starters to rest ahead of Saturday's showdown against TNT at the Mall of Asia Arena—a rematch of last season's Philippine Cup Finals.

The victory also marked San Miguel's biggest winning margin since its 158-117 rout of Titan Ultra during the Season 50 Philippine Cup last November.

Joshua Munzon paced the Giant Risers with 25 points, while Bryan Sajonia added 19 and Tirrell Brown contributed 15 as Titan Ultra dropped to 1-5.
