Batang Kankaloo dominate Batang Quiapo for 14th MPBL victory
Caloocan Batang Kankaloo overpowered Manila Batang Quiapo, 130–91, on Tuesday to widen their lead over the chasing pack in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
With all but one of their 15 players contributing at least two points, Caloocan raced to a commanding 108–58 advantage before cruising to their 14th win against just one loss in the round-robin elimination phase of the 28-team, two-division tournament.
The Batang Kankaloo now sit ahead of the Abra Solid North Weavers (11–1) and San Juan Knights (10–1) in the race for North Division playoff positioning.
Jeramer Cabanag led the way for Caloocan with 20 points, including a flawless 4-of-4 shooting from three-point range, along with five rebounds and four assists. He earned Player of the Game honors over Jammer Jamito, who tallied 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Caloocan’s depth was on full display, with Rommel Calahat adding 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists; Kymani Ladi contributing 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists; Joseph Manlangit posting 11 points and five rebounds; and Jeff Manday finishing with 10 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
Manila slipped to a 2–12 record despite strong performances from John Ashley Faa, who put up 25 points, seven assists, and two rebounds; Jo Gomez De Liano, who added 14 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists; and Jan Baltazar, who chipped in 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
After a competitive opening stretch, Caloocan pulled away early and never looked back, building a 65–34 halftime lead en route to a dominant finish.
The tournament continues Wednesday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, with Bataan facing Quezon City at 4 p.m., followed by Rizal taking on Negros at 6 p.m.
