Tatak Gel routs SiKat to extend winning streak to seven
Biñan Tatak Gel continued its impressive run, cruising past Zamboanga SiKat, 72-53, on Saturday at One Arena in Cainta to stretch its winning streak to seven games in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season.
The Lagunenses jumped out early and led by as many as 28 points (69-41) before coasting to victory. The win improved Biñan’s record to 10-3, keeping them in fourth place in the South Division behind Quezon Province (8-0), GenSan (12-1), and Batangas (9-2).
Nic Cabañero led the charge with 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals to earn Best Player honors. Michael Mabulac added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Jason Ballesteros and Kenny Roger Rocacurva helped dominate the paint.
Biñan controlled the boards (48-36) and outshot Zamboanga significantly, hitting 44.8% from the field compared to the SiKat’s 28.1%. They also held a clear edge in the paint, 36-16.
The loss snapped Zamboanga’s three-game winning streak as they fell to 4-8. Paeng Are led the SiKat with 15 points, while Jhon Calisay added nine in the defeat.
The MPBL returns on Monday at Paco Arena in Manila with the following games:
- Meycauayan Marilao vs Imus (4 p.m.)
- Basilan vs GenSan (6 p.m.)
- Valenzuela vs Bacolod (8 p.m.)
