Robert Lewandowski reveals why he’s not taking penalties for Barcelona
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has explained why he is no longer taking penalties for the club, attributing the change to a lack of rhythm from reduced playing time rather than his previous misses. He missed penalties against Sevilla and Atlético Madrid earlier this season, after which the duties have shifted to teammates Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Lewandowski stated that inconsistent minutes on the pitch lead to a loss of confidence and feel during critical moments, making it better for someone who feels more confident in a specific match to take the Penalties . He emphasized that this decision was made collectively on the pitch for the team's benefit and was not a consequence of his earlier unsuccessful attempts.
Despite the change in penalty duties, Lewandowski has still managed to score 16 goals for Barcelona across all competitions this season. He is currently with the Polish national team preparing for a crucial World Cup qualifier against Albania.
