NewcastleUnited are actively scouting young, up-and-coming wide attackers to bolster their forward line for next season. According to a report by Craig Hope of The Daily Mail, the club's recruitment staff have been tracking 19-year-old Cologne left winger Said El Mala during recent scouting trips to Germany.

Hope notes that ElMala, who has scored eight Bundesliga goals and can also play as a striker, fits the specific profile of young winger Newcastle are targeting this summer. However, competition for his signature is expected to be strong.

The scouting mission reportedly included watching Cologne's recent match against Borussia Dortmund, a fixture that also involved Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel—another player linked with a potential move to Newcastle.

In a separate development, German outlet Kicker.de reports that El Mala has changed his representation to his parents, a move that could be interpreted as positioning for a transfer. Brighton & Hove Albion are currently reported as frontrunners in the race for the winger, with Chelsea, BayernMunich, and Borussia Dortmund also showing interest.

El Mala's contract with Cologne runs until 2030 and contains no release clause, giving his club significant negotiating power. As of now, no formal bid from Newcastle has been reported.
