Lazio have reportedly secured an agreement in principle to sign Villarreal full-back Alfonso Pedraza on a free transfer next season when his contract expires. The 29-year-old Spanish left-back, a product of Villarreal's youth academy, is seen as a player who fits well into manager Maurizio Sarri's tactical plans.

While the primary plan is to sign Pedraza for free in the summer, Lazio are also exploring the possibility of bringing him in during the current January transfer window. The club is willing to pay a modest fee to Villarreal for an early transfer, but should the Spanish club demand a high price, Lazio are prepared to wait until his contract ends in June.

In related squad news, Lazio are working to offload left-back Nuno Tavares, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad. Should Tavares depart and a January move for Pedraza fail to materialize, manager Sarri may reintegrate Elseid Hysaj into the squad to provide cover for Luca Pellegrini on the left flank.
