Kane confident he can break Lewandowski record with consistent end to Bundesliga season
Harry Kane has expressed confidence in his ability to break Robert Lewandowski's single-season Bundesliga goal record, provided he maintains his current form until the end of the season. Kane scored twice in Bayern Munich's 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund, bringing his league tally to 30 goals in 24 matches, just 11 goals shy of Lewandowski's record set in the 2020-21 season.
Statistically, Kane is performing at a remarkable level, averaging a goal every 64 minutes in the Bundesliga this season. While Lewandowski averaged a goal every 60 minutes during his record-setting campaign, Kane currently boasts a better conversion rate (31.2%) and shooting accuracy (74.8%) compared to Lewandowski's figures (29.9% conversion, 58.6% accuracy) from that season. With several matches remaining, Kane believes consistency will be key to achieving the record.
Despite Bayern Munich now holding an 11-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga, Kane cautioned against complacency, referencing recent dropped points that allowed Dortmund to close the gap earlier. He emphasized the need for the team to stay focused as they approach upcoming fixtures, including a league match against Borussia Monchengladbach and a Champions League last-16 tie against Atalanta.
