Phoenix Super LPG bolstered its backcourt after acquiring veteran guard Gian Mamuyac from Rain or Shine in a trade finalized on Thursday, just ahead of his impending free agency.

As part of the deal, the Fuel Masters also received the Elasto Painters' second-round pick in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 53 Draft, while Rain or Shine secured Phoenix's first-round selection in the same draft.

The move follows months of contract negotiations between Rain or Shine and Mamuyac. Although his contract had expired, he remained eligible to play for the Elasto Painters under the league's automatic extension provision during the ongoing PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup.

Mamuyac joined Rain or Shine in 2022 and established himself as a dependable two-way presence over four seasons with the franchise.

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 13.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game in the previous conference.

He played his final game for the Elasto Painters on July 7, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists in a 131-108 loss to Blackwater.
