The Basilan Steel basketball team is reviving its traditional identity characterized by toughness and relentless play. Concurrently, former PBA champion and top overall rookie pick JVee Casio is attempting a professional comeback, this time in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Both the team and Casio aim to refresh their images in the upcoming MPBL Season 8.

Casio, whose career has been hampered by injuries in recent years, last played for Converge in the Kadayawan event in an unsuccessful bid for a PBA roster spot. He is now focused on the future, embracing this new chapter with Basilan. He emphasizes maintaining his competitive spirit for the love of the game and aims to contribute positively to his new team.

The Basilan team is not only reintroducing its original "Steel" moniker and updated jersey logo from its 2019 league entry but is also bolstering its roster. Alongside the veteran Casio, the team is adding young talent Gjerard Wilson, a former UE Red Warriors player who went unsigned after being drafted by the Blackwater Bossing. Wilson will join Casio in the backcourt under coach Arnold Oliveros.
