Bayern Munich duo named Austria’s footballers of 2025
Bayern Munich players Konrad Laimer and Sarah Zadrazil have been named Austria's Footballers of the Year for the men's and women's categories, respectively, by the Austrian Press Agency (APA). This marks the first time since 2021, when David Alaba won, that a Bayern Munich player has received this Austrian honor.
Konrad Laimer's award follows his contributions to Bayern Munich's 2024/25 Bundesliga title and Franz Beckenbauer Supercup victory. Sarah Zadrazil was recognized after a highly successful season where she helped Bayern Munich's women's team achieve a domestic double by winning the Frauen Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal, in addition to the DFB-Supercup against Wolfsburg.
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund expressed pride in Laimer's achievement, praising his reliability, passion, commitment, and team spirit for both club and country. Freund highlighted Laimer's nickname, "Zidane of the Alps," and his exceptional speed, while also noting that former Bayern star David Alaba has won the Austrian Footballer of the Year award ten times.
