Weavers crush Pasigueños, extend winning streak to 15

Defending champion Abra Solid North continued its dominant run in the 2026 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season, routing Pasig City, 130-76, on Thursday at the Ynares Center Montalban in Rizal.

The Weavers seized control from the opening tip, storming to a 44-14 lead after the first quarter before cruising to their 15th consecutive victory. The win improved Abra's record to 17-1 in the 27-team round-robin elimination phase, strengthening its hold on the league's best record.

Reigning MVP Dave Ildefonso powered the defending champions with a triple-double of 17 points, 14 assists, 10 rebounds, and five steals to earn Best Player of the Game honors. Tucker Molina added 18 points and two rebounds.

"We wanted to prove that we're still the team to beat," said Ildefonso, adding that he approached the matchup against Pasig as "just another game."

Abra's outside shooting proved too much for Pasig as the Weavers knocked down 16 of their 32 three-point attempts for an even 50 percent. Ildefonso buried five of seven from deep, while Molina made three of four. The Pasigueños, meanwhile, struggled from long range, converting just six of 21 attempts.

Shaun Ildefonso contributed a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, Jake Figueroa added 12 points, four assists, and two rebounds, while Drex Delos Reyes and Redel Fabro chipped in 10 points apiece.

The Weavers also dominated inside, outrebounding Pasig, 50-38, and outscoring the Pasigueños, 68-38, in points in the paint.

Pasig dropped to 10-9, falling into a tie for sixth place in the North Division with Meycauayan Marilao.

Jacob Galicia led the Pasigueños with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jerome Garcia scored 13 points, while Warlo Batac finished with 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Jhapz Bautista also had 10 points.

In the nightcap, Rizal XentroMall strengthened its playoff bid with an 81-71 victory over Gensan to improve to 12-7.

Laurenz Victoria earned Best Player of the Game honors after tallying 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Jolo Mendoza also scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.

JP Sarao added nine points and four rebounds, while Billy Robles contributed eight points, 11 rebounds, and three assists as the Golden Coolers controlled the game from start to finish.

Gensan absorbed its second straight defeat and slipped to 14-4, remaining fourth in the South Division.

Mark Cruz paced the Warriors with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Marwin Dionisio added 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

The contest was briefly halted with 2:41 remaining after Gensan veteran Hesed Gabo became the first player in MPBL history to reach 1,000 career assists. MPBL Commissioner Emmer Oreta presented Gabo with the game ball to commemorate the milestone.
