The WNBA has set a March 8 deadline to reach a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with its players' union, or the 2026 season will be delayed from its scheduled May 8 start. Negotiations have intensified as this deadline approaches.

A report details the league's latest proposal, which includes a significant increase in the supermax salary to $1.13 million and a team salary cap of $5.65 million. This is a substantial jump from the previous supermax of $249,000 under the 2020 CBA.

However, the players' union has proposed a much higher team salary cap of approximately $9.5 million, along with a share of league gross revenue—a point on which the league has not yet conceded.

Despite the ongoing negotiations, it is expected that star players such as Paige Bueckers, Caitlin Clark, and Angel Reese will receive major pay increases on their next contracts, as they are currently on rookie deals earning under $100,000 annually.
