According to ESPN, the Oklahoma City Thunder edged the New York Knicks 103-100. Late in the first quarter, coach Tom Thibodeau was called for his first technical foul as Knicks head coach after arguing a no-call on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. With 1:57 remaining, Gilgeous-Alexander drove to the basket and collided with Jalen Brunson, sending Brunson to the floor. Thibodeau was still upset about the call in his postgame press conference. “ SGA is really hard to guard, and he does as good a job as anybody in the league, maybe better, of selling contact,” Thibodeau said bluntly. “Brunson was right there, and Alexander ran right into him. It was similar to the calls they were making on OG Anunoby. I don’t get it. I don’t understand why that wasn’t called.” Gilgeous-Alexander finished with a game-high 7 free throw attempts, putting up 26 points and 8 assists in 35 minutes. “That should’ve been his third foul. The basket shouldn’t have counted, and we should’ve had possession,” Thibodeau added. “Brunson was there, taking the contact. Our guys are fighting their tails off to win, and it’s tough to take.”
