PLDT aims to regain top spot
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference features two preliminary round matches today at the FilOil EcoOil Centre. The first match at 4 p.m. pits Cignal against ZUS Coffee, followed by PLDT versus Farm Fresh at 6:30 p.m.
The PLDT High Speed Hitters, holding a 4-1 record, aim to start a new winning streak after rebounding from a loss with a sweep of ZUS Coffee last Saturday. Key players Savi Davison and Kim Kianna Dy led that victory. PLDT is currently tied for second place and emphasizes treating every remaining game as crucial for securing a top-four playoff spot.
Their opponents, the Farm Fresh Foxies, are coming off a narrow five-set loss and hold a 2-3 record, tied for seventh. Players like Trisha Tubu, who scored 30 points in their last match, will lead their effort to return to the win column.
In the earlier match, Cignal, the league-leading team with a 4-2 record, seeks to recover from a recent five-set loss to Akari as they face the struggling ZUS Coffee team.
The race for the top four positions, which qualify for the semifinals playoff, is intensifying with only eight more playdates left in the preliminary round. Teams that lose in the Final Four playoff will enter a stepladder play-in tournament.
