PBA: Rensy Bajar to call shots for Titan Ultra beginning Commissioner's Cup
The Titan Ultra have appointed Rensy Bajar as their new head coach for the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup, replacing Johnedel Cardel after one conference. Bajar confirmed the appointment to One Sports on Thursday, February 26.
Cardel's tenure saw the newly rebranded team, formerly the NorthPort Batang Pier, come close to reaching the quarterfinals in the ongoing Philippine Cup playoffs. The team finished the All-Filipino conference with a 4-7 record, which included players Calvin Abueva and Joshua Munzon. However, Abueva has since been traded to Converge, with the Giant Risers acquiring Rey Suerte, King Caralipio, and Mark Omega in return.
While this marks Bajar's first head coaching role in the PBA, he brings significant experience. The 49-year-old has been an assistant coach with the Batang Pier since 2018 and remained on the coaching staff after the franchise was acquired by Titan Ultra before the current season. He also has prior head coaching experience with the UP Fighting Maroons and Letran.
