During a PBACommissioner'sCup game on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Rain or Shine import Jaylen Johnson and TNT Tropang Giga's Glenn Khobuntin were involved in a heated on-court altercation. The incident occurred with 6:20 remaining in the fourth quarter as both players battled for position, leading to a brief scuffle that nearly escalated before officials intervened.
Both players were assessed flagrant fouls and subsequently ejected from the game. RainOrShine ultimately won the closely contested match with a final score of 112-109.
Following the game, Glenn Khobuntin attributed the incident to the high emotions of a tight game, stating he reacted after being swung at. He acknowledged accountability and expressed readiness to accept any consequences and move forward.
Jaylen Johnson claimed he was struck first while trying to establish position. Despite this, he issued a public apology to the PBA, his team, and Khobuntin, stating the altercation did not reflect the character or image he wishes to portray.
Before their ejections, Khobuntin had recorded five points, while Johnson delivered a strong all-around performance with 33 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block.
