Nxled, Akari favored in PVL play-in

The NxledChameleons and Akari Chargers are aiming to advance to the semifinals, but must first win their respective play-in round matches in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. Nxled, the fifth seed, will face the Galeries Tower Highrisers, while the sixth-seeded Akari Chargers will take on the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

Nxled and Akari had an eight-day rest after the preliminary round, avoiding the initial knockout matches. Their opponents, however, are coming off recent victories. Galeries Tower, which finished ninth, stayed alive by defeating the Capital 1 Solar Spikers, thanks in large part to Julia Coronel's 22 excellent sets, which enabled four teammates to score in double figures.

Nxled enters the match well-rested and confident, having previously upset the top-seeded PLDTHighSPeedHitters . Coach Ettore Guidetti praised his team's consistency and improved defense. Meanwhile, Akari's path requires overcoming the popular Choco Mucho team, which boasts a powerful offensive trio of Sisi Rondina, Eya Laure, and Maddie Madayag, who recently led a five-set victory. Akari will rely on Ivy Lacsina, Grethcel Soltones, and Fifi Sharma to counter this threat.
