NBA Rumors: Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo Prefers To Be Traded To Heat, Knicks, Raptors
NBA legend Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly ready to leave the Milwaukee Bucks, with a preference to be traded to the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, or Toronto Raptors, according to sources. Despite currently being sidelined for four to six weeks with a right calf injury, these three teams are actively pursuing a trade for him.
Antetokounmpo is earning $54.1 million this season and holds a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season. His contract does not include a no-trade clause, meaning the Bucks are not obligated to trade him to his preferred destinations and can wait for the best possible offer.
Sources indicate that before this season, Antetokounmpo had already requested a trade from the Bucks, specifically wanting to join the Knicks, but a deal between Milwaukee and New York could not be reached at that time.
The Knicks, aware of Antetokounmpo's interest, have reportedly discussed a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers involving Jrue Holiday, a former teammate and close friend of Antetokounmpo from their time in Milwaukee. A potential multi-team framework could involve New York sending Mikal Bridges to Portland for Holiday and trading Karl-Anthony Towns to Milwaukee for Antetokounmpo, with the Bucks then potentially moving Towns for additional draft assets.
The Raptors are reportedly willing to trade anyone on their roster except Brandon Ingram and Scottie Barnes to acquire Antetokounmpo. Meanwhile, the Heat have a connection through shared agent Alex Saratsis, and Antetokounmpo and Miami star Bam Adebayo have reportedly discussed the possibility of playing together.
This season, Antetokounmpo has posted stellar averages of 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game over 30 appearances. However, the Bucks hold a 15-15 record with him in the lineup. The NBA trade deadline is February 5, 2026, setting the stage for a potentially franchise-altering decision.
