Mikey Williams not rushing to bring old game back in PBA return
Mikey Williams made his return to the PBA after a three-year hiatus, playing for the Converge FiberXers in their 2026 Commissioner's Cup opener against the Macau Black Knights. In his first game back, he contributed 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal over 12 minutes, helping Converge secure a 102-94 victory.
Williams acknowledged his performance was not his typical high-scoring output but expressed confidence that his old form would return in due time, emphasizing a patient approach to his comeback. His participation was nearly delayed as he required a last-minute clearance from FIBA, which he received just before the final quarter.
He played a key role in the fourth-quarter turnaround, with Converge finishing the game on an 18-6 run after trailing. Williams last played in the PBA during the 2023 Governors' Cup finals, leading TNT to a championship, before a contract dispute led to his departure and eventual trade to Converge in 2025.
