Lacsina keys Akari surge
Ivy Lacsina has been instrumental in turning around Akari's struggling 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign. After a winless start, her consecutive 20-point performances fueled the team's back-to-back victories, earning her the unanimous PVL Press Corps Player of the Week award for February 24-28.
Her standout performances included a 20-point, 10-reception double-double in a four-set win over Nxled, followed by another 20-point game with 16 kills, 3 blocks, an ace, and 11 excellent receptions in a dramatic five-set victory against Cignal. Lacsina credited the team's collective effort and trust for the turnaround.
She secured the weekly honor over a competitive field of players from other teams. Despite her individual success, Lacsina emphasized shared leadership within the team, moving beyond reliance on veteran Grethcel Soltones and focusing on collective contribution.
Akari, now riding a wave of momentum, will next face the Capital1 team, led by Bella Belen, as they look to continue their improved form.
