Kuminga Explodes for 27 Points in Hawks Debut, Sets Franchise Record in Win Over Wizards
On February 25th, the Atlanta Hawks cruised to a 119-98 victory over the Washington Wizards at home, securing their second straight win.
New Hawks acquisition Jonathan Kuminga made his team debut, coming off the bench to shoot 9-of-12 from the field and finish with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals — a season-high in scoring, while also setting the Hawks franchise record for most points by a reserve in a debut.
After the game, Kuminga expressed his excitement:
“I don’t know what to say, but I’m really excited right now. We just go out there and compete as hard as we can, fight for each other, and get the win. That’s what matters most.”
“We have great chemistry as a team; we joke around with each other all the time,” Kuminga added.
“I think bringing joy to the game is really important, and it means a lot to our team.”
